Norwegians Confused by Bush Salute

Upon arriving at the new century of international diplomacy and an understanding of other cultures than our own, I would think that President Bush should develop his skills in symbolic gestures which may be interpreted differently as originally intended. This, of course, would require a full staff of those who would obligate their time to advise the President of possible “inter-cultural” sensitivities which he would need to be counseled upon before even “twitching” a finger.

“OSLO, Norway (AP) - President Bush's ``Hook 'em, 'horns'' salute got lost in translation in Norway, where shocked people interpreted his hand gesture during his inauguration as a salute to Satan.

That's what it means in the Nordics when you throw up the right hand with the index and pinky fingers raised, a gesture popular among heavy metal groups and their fans in the region.

``Shock greeting from Bush daughter,'' a headline in the Norwegian Internet newspaper Nettavisen said above a photograph of Bush's daughter Jenna, smiling and showing the sign.

For Texans, the gesture is a sign of love for the University of Texas Longhorns, whose fans are known to shout out ``Hook 'em, 'horns!'' at sporting events.

But, I'm not sure what if any connection Dubya HAS to University of Texas, except that he appointed Tom Hicks to be the fella, back when Bush was Governor, to rape and loot a bucket of bucks, in the billions of dollars, owned by UT (UTIMCO).

Hicks was the fella who first made Dubya a millionnaire, when Hicks bought the Texas Rangers baseball team, and Dubya turned a less-than-a $MILLION investment (a loan) into $14+ million.

Hicks also is a major director/shareholder of Clear Channel Communications. Hicks is a Dallas billionnaire who also just happened to have been one of the venture capital investors in.....

Besides, he is supposed to be the pResident of the ENTIRE United States, not just Texas and certianly not a particular university in Texas.

He has to know that people will take it as that, if only half of the people take it that way. Coming from a supposed "Christian" president, that would make no sense what so ever. A real Christian would not take the chance of people confusing him using the sign of Satan. You therefore are left with the cold hard fact that he is doing it on purpose and is indeed showing his allegiance to Satan.

About that salute, BTW:
He, as a Christian, should be more aware of the signal it sends to the world. Especially when his politics is so clearly evil and beastly.
Us simple people up north can't cope with too much of this hand-gestures any longer. I mean, for chrissake, what secret evil is this sign supposed to stand for?
