It was just on one of the local news stations that a "Family Values" group disapproves of Spongebob Squarepants claiming he a is gay character. The creator of the cartoon says it is all BS.

just how he assumed Tinky Winky was male. Since the figure didn't have an obvious penis, nor even an opening in the suit to allow it to take one out to pee with, how on earth did His Corpulence decide the character had to be GAY? Maybe that purse signified Tinky Winky is FEMALE.

There are two groups involved on both sides. One called We Are Family Foundation made the video. No gay or lesbian agenda. Simply speaking out for tolerance and fellowship with all. The other is simply called We Are Family. This one is the GLBT advocacy group. No connection with the video. But if you Google We Are Family their's is the primary links you will find.

Two groups initially went ape about the connection and attacked the video. Only one backed down when the misunderstanding was pointed out. The other, Focus on Family, has decided to continue to make an issue of it because it is high profile and that is what they are more interested in.
