Maybe she wasn't the Great White Hope that some of her supporters deify her to be, but she's still a hostage with over 200 others, and ignored while we're busy dumping on Venezuela.

I remember Ms Betancourt. I am treating the new brouhaha over Venezuela
as evidence that things are not going well in Colombia, hence there is
a need for a distraction, perhaps a foreign adventure.
