the right is trying to ban, would you believe the "Wizard of Oz" movie? Just heard this in passing on the Dem radio station tonight. They are trying to get rid of some of the Hollywood's best.

8. I found a parady, but it's not too far from the truth:

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael Powell, flanked by Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, announced today another victory against moral turpitude by banning further showings of The Wizard of Oz.

Claiming that "it's a moral outrage to show a young girl who cavorts with homoerotic lollipop-licking Munchkins and overthrows a benevolent leader in a time of national crisis," Falwell and Robertson have requested the FCC issue an order confiscating all prints.

Robertson further added that the use of witches and flying monkeys was an affront to Christianity. When asked how he knew it was an affront Robertson claimed, "The Almighty told me."

Powell, son of Secretary of State Colin Powell, said that for years the public has been duped by movies like Oz. Powell cited movies such as Cinderella, which depicts a wardrobe malfunction leading to the exposing of a bare foot and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which according to Powell is really about a "voluptuous brunette virgin ravaged by depraved midgets." Robertson and Falwell both agreed that these are the types of movies causing current moral decay.

9. One of my 4th grade students

has a fundie mom who goes to church a couple times a week. Just today, he asked me if I knew that the Wizard of Oz has bad words in it. He said there is a line in the movie where someone says 'let's get the h__ out of here'. I said well if you go to church surely you have learned that hell is not a bad word, it's a bad place.

Not to mention that it was an ACT OF GOD (the toronado) that put her on that "trip."

And, what's up with those ruby red slippers!? OMG! They draw attention to Dorothy's virgin ankle!!

Seriously, though, your point is well-taken and valid. All the women - from Aunt Em to Glenda, to WWW and WWE to Dorothy have ALL the power in the movie. Heck, even Dorothy gets the broom and proves to the Great And Powerful Oz that she can take him and the witch on with just a little help from her friends.
