1. Is the federal death penalty even an issue any more?
Edited on Mon Sep-08-03 09:25 PM by wuushew
Seems like the only guys that get executed are the run of the mill domestic white terrorists.

All other terrorists are exempt for fear of dumping gas on the jihad.

2. Dear Pete,
I know you've been outspoken about the flame wars, and I know you have no intent to flame here, but I was just thinking how nice tonight's been with its relative dearth of Kerry v Dean threads. Yes, this is an issue oriented post, but it's bound to attract the same old same old.

Flame away folks- at Dean or Kerry, or me for having posted this.

3. As far as I know
Kerry is anti death penalty and pro gun control...as am I. Dean is, I think, just the opposite on both issues.

I am supporting Kerry, but my disagreement with Dean's stand on those 2 issues will not cause me to not vote for him if he is the nominee. There are many other issues which make him extraordinarily superior to the alternative.

5. I am not even sure exactly

Where Kerry stands on the issue. I know where Dean stand though.

I personally am anti-death penalty, but I am in a minority on that issue in this country, and it is not enough of an issue for me to worry about it too much.

6. It's really a non-issue.
Americans like to kill their worst criminals.

I've never gotten it.

However, any Democrat would use the federal death penalty incredibly sparingly.

7. if by sparingly that you mean not at all
there has been only 2 people executed by the federal death penalty since the 60's, McVeigh and two others. All under Genocide George.

8. Kerry & Dean on Death Penalty
Dean is for the death penalty in very limited circumstances -- serial killers, child murders and murders of police officer, if I recall correctly.
