A proponderance of research has shown that conservative religiosity is the second best indicator for child abuse, particularly sexual abuse. Consider the worldview of someone who is a conservative religious fantatic. Doesn't it seem that abuse would go hand and hand with this type of person? Makes sense to me. I saw it first hand when I worked at Child Protective Services. The WORST cases of child abuse I saw were parents who were religious zealots. It was standard practice to consider their religious beliefs. These beliefs direct their behaviors.
We can reasonably conclude, that the majority of those who are conservative religious followers are Republican.

"A disturbing fact continues to surface in sex abuse research. The first best predictor of abuse is alcohol or drug addiction in the father.
But the second best predictor is conservative religiosity, accompanied by parental belief in traditional male-female roles. This means that if you want to know which children are most likely to be sexually abused by their father, the second most significant clue is *whether or not the parents belong to a conservative religious group with traditional role beliefs and rigid sexual attitudes*.
