Yeah, whatever, bonehead.
Let me make a fearless prediction. There will be days and days of breathless hype from the Mighty Wurlitzer. "Look, look!", they will shout. "Only a few dozen Iraqis died trying to vote! See how smoothly things went!"
And you know what's going to happen next? Exactly the same things as happened yesterday. Another IED will take out a Bradley and a couple of our soldiers. Another suicide bomber will level an Iraqi police post and kill a dozen cops. Rockets and mortar shells will continue to fly, some hitting buildings, some missing. Another government official or three will be murdered, and a couple more pipelines will explode. The power won't come on, the toilets won't flush, the lines at the gas stations won't grow any shorter and our troops will not be coming home.
But thanks to the amazing triumph of the amazing Iraqi election, we can all now pay even less attention to the distressing events listed in the previous paragraph. After all, we'll have an amazing triumphant election to yammer on and on and on about for days and days to come.
