CNN: $$ from donor countries will not ever pay back U.S. treasury
CNN's Jonathan Karl and Aaron Brown discussing Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison's statement that money solicited from other nations would repay American taxpayers for the $87 billion. Karl states that all of his sources in Washington say that's not the case. They say that $$ received from other countries for Iraq will be used as additional $$ in Iraq.

So that's $87 billion requested on Sunday, plus the $55 billion additional announced on MONDAY to be formally requested soon, plus whatever's been spent already (is it 40 billion?) plus the money from the coalition donors, plus whatever oil money can be earned and returned to reconstruction.

That's just what we know about. We're talking more than $200 billion so far.

Paul Krugman says this: bankrupting the U.S. treasury suits the plans of the far right who influence the WH -- because there's no money for social programs and they can be eliminated.

What a criminal shell game. Loot America of its treasure, divert untold billions to predatory Bushco cronies, be forced to cut social services. It's a trifecta.

1. And its all going to end up with the cronies
of Rumsfeldt, Schultz, Baker, Bush, etc. These are the people who get the contracts. They have to amass additional billions to secure their power in the face of the coming inflation after Nov. 2004. Ordinary people will be even further ruined. They will be unchallengeable in their fortresses of untold wealth.

4. War Profiteering
I think a campaign against war profiteering could
work wonders to get congress back.

I think this would be a great issue for an ad
campaign.

6. Now that we're in a permanent state of war
wouldn't every corporate attempt to buy influence through bribery, er campaign contributions be "war profiteering"?

5. well I agree...
...that other countries should not pay for *'s snafus.

The point is that Americans generally think that the oil revenue, the contributions, etc., will lessen their load. It ain't true. Bushco is going to drain Americans AND use Iraqi oil money AND solicit donations to feed imperialism.

Plus, Grover Norquist wants America drained of money so social services will be eliminated.
