to sacrifice for 'freedom'. I feel for the guy, but really, this kind of denial from too many people is why we are in the mess we are. .... a special exception for those who have lost loved ones in this "war". They need any comfort they can get, and if believing we are being successful helps them with their pain, let them believe it.

They and their sons/daughters have made the ultimate sacrifice and they deserve the ultimate respect IMHO.
