It is suggesting that if a woman is fat, that makes her and her opinions less worthy.

The point is that for a woman to get that sort of media exposure she pretty much has to fit certain physical requirements.

I am sure there are plenty of fat rightwing female screechmonkeys--but we never hear about them. The point of the question is not that fat women are not worth listening to, but that things being the way they are, fat women are not likely to be listened to.

On the other hand, the physical requirements for media exposure and power are much more flexible for men, which is why Rush got a pass when he was a big fat idiot rather than just a big idiot.

The question was not, "Does a person's weight have any bearing on the validity of their opinions?" The question was, "Due to the way Coulter portrays herself, and the audience she sells her opinions to, do you think she would have a successful a career as she does if she was fat?"

And honestly, the answer is no. That doesn't mean that her opinions count for less, or that they are less valid (in fact, they are hardly opinions, and more like crazy outbursts). It also doesn't speak to the importance of other peoples' opinions regardless of how much they weigh or what they look like.

But Coulter hocks her shrill shillery to a largely backwards, largely male audience that gets off having something thin and blonde saying nasty things about people they don't like. Yes, Rush can be a fat cow and still work his radio magic, but the fact is that he's not only a man, but he's marketing himself differently.

Coulter is actually smarter than her lunacy lets on. You see, she is calling one great big long bluff on the liberal pundits (what few there are), and it goes something like this. "I'm attractive (in theory), blonde, and I have an opinion, so therefore liberals have to let me speak or else they themselves are enforcing a stereotype about women." It's part of her routine, part of her smug grin. . . it's one of the cornerstones of her whole act.

She is so outrageous, I think her whole persona may just be a way of getting attention. I mean, who could really believe the vile hatred that she spews on a regular basis?
