The Cold Stone Creamery on Guadalupe Street will reopen today or Thursday after repairs to damage caused by an allegedly drunken driver who crashed a car through the storefront windows early New Year's Day. "He pretty much sailed into the store," said store manager Janell Caraway.

Police arrested Kyle Terrill, 30, after discovering him parked inside the ice cream shop, unhurt and seated in his 1999 Saab convertible, said APD public information officer Laura Albrecht. He was charged with driving while intoxicated. Store employee Kendra Ebbs, who lives nearby on Fruth Street, had followed the police sirens from her home that night. She and friends walked over to Cold Stone around 4:45 a.m. and found the car lodged halfway through her workplace.

"It was propped on top of the bike rack and leaked oil on the ground," she said. "There was glass all the way to the back of the store."

Ebbs said she shouted at the driver, asking him how he could crash a car into the store, but received no response.
