George W. Bush turnpike in Dallas is so deadly they had to put up

huge concrete barriers for the entire length of it, at the tune of $7 million dollars!

Apparently there were so many accidents on George W. Bush turnpike last year, it made the Top Most Deadly Roads in Texas list, quite an honor and the state was forced to add these concrete barriers. Just saw it on my local news.

Somehow it just makes sense that a turnpike named after him would be so deadly and so costly, doesn't it?

1. The fact that they name roads, buildings, etc...

after political figures who are not only still alive but STILL IN OFFICE really bothers me.

And a road called the "George W Bush Freeway" should cause anyone who drives it to make a long series of right turns that lead them in the wrong direction before carrying them over a cliff...

16. It's the George H.W. Bush Freeway, not GWB..

and, fittingly, it's a toll road. I used to live near the dangerous part. People were driving right over the grass median and into oncoming traffic, for some reason.

I drove down that section of highway many times and could never figure out what would cause people to do such a thing.

it will have huge concrete barriers on the side and most of those will be visible to roads below where it crosses over other major roads.

I was recently in Dallas and I remember driving on the George H.W. Bush freeway which was very new and I didn't see anything named after Chimp.

We have LBJ freeway (635) and PRESIDENT George Bush Turnpike. They stuck "president" in there to distingish it from his black sheep son. Now, it doesn't matter.

14. The busshit library at texas A&M...

we used to call "the enterprise" as it reminds one of a spaceship
with the lights at night. Well, i fondly recall that library from
the only time in my life i've ever tried "speed"... they were pills
my friend had he called "speckled eggs"? but it was a vibrant
experience walking about that flourescent 7 floors of books awash with
intensity.... ironic that they would later name my one speed amphetomene
trip after george bush... perhaps more than ironic... :-)

and I had to drive somewhere, I would never put my wheels on that road. I would even drive a long detour if I had to. Believe me. My wheels will not touch anything named "George Bush"

Recently we were meeting some friends in that area, but we didn't use that road.

26. Then you would have a hard time

getting to DFW or Love Field or Arlington or I-20 or I-30 or Loop 820 or Grapevine or 114 etc. from my house. The Bush is a great convenience-the name doesn't bother me. The problem isn't the road-it's the drivers.

What is funny is they named it the "George Bush" freeway.

Then Bush** (shrub) was elected governer. So they changed the name to "President George Bush" freeway.

Now with Bush** elected president, they seem to have given up. :)
