This was back in 1967 and the country was South Viet Nam. It was touted as a great victory for democracy.

Palestine just had elections too...and DIRECT elections for an actual leader...without foreign occupation and curfews and martial law and being told "no vote = no food"... Palestine is such a democracy! :wow:

5. Maybe if you send to Keith O, he would point this out,---
but no one, not even he would want to rain on the "democratic miracle" taking place in Iraq. I am gagged by the constant cheer leading of the MSM.
I think the Iraqi people would do anything to cause a change in what is going on there right now. Out of desperation they are voting--in hopes that anything would be better than the nightmare they are in. They didn't even have the names of those they were voting "for". How can this be democratic? I am sure that the Bushies will be "inserting" a few names---free elections, democracy, hell NO!!!But then we don't have democracy either.

Wait until the dust settles from this election. When the Iraqi people realize what the U.S. has done under this guise of "democracy" then we'll see the real insurgency begin.

7. And that is exactly what actual mideast experts have been warning about

That this 'election' was more likely to make the situation worse. Something one can always count on bush for; making things worse.

Edit to say Hi sickem, welcome to DU! :hi:
