Is CA Secretary of State Shelley getting Davis'ed by the Republicans?
Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 04:08 PM by LaPera
"The GOP has a petition to remove Democrat Shelly --
Just as they had the bucks to secretly and underhandedly smear Clinton they are doing the same with Shelley. If the republicans can get Shelley to resign Republican Governor Arnold WILL appoint a republican as Sec. of State and that person controls the voting in the state. With a republican Gov and republican Sec of State, they can get their electronic voting machines in California and control the state."
www.bartcop.com

Secretary Shelley has not been convicted of anything...Just the usual republican smear tactics.

"Could this be political revenge from companies like Diebold, which Shelley has given such a hard time?

Kevin Shelley has been an outspoken critic of electronic voting systems that have been sold and entrusted to California voters for their elections. These systems have been tested by computer scientists and are said to be lacking in the most basic security standards, leaving an open window for vote manipulation. Shelley has been standing up to the E-voting manufacturers and demanding accountability and reliability of the machines California has purchased, decertifying Diebold equipment in all counties using one type of their touchscreen system.

Could it be, that Shelley is paying the political price for having integrity in his public service? He has come under such a multitude of attacks in the last few weeks, ranging from sexual harassment to laundered campaign donations, it seems a little strange that all this dirt is turning up - one after another. When stories like this come out - somebody has to go digging for it and for a reason. I don't know if the allegations are true or not, but one thing seems apparent, that someone is going after Shelley - but who and why?"

What the Republicans did to get Democrat Gray Davis run out of office with the Enron created "Gray-outs"-- The Republican financed recall was created to get their celebrity star republican Schwarzenegger to replace Democrat Davis as Governor.

Please tell people to write or call Shelley asking him NOT to resign. http://www.ss.ca.gov

The republicans want and need to get a republican as Secretary of State in California, they can't do it through the voting process.
So they are going about in their usual way, with money, smears tactics, distortions and lies and using the same corporate media lapdogs to feed us the slime.

1. That's the only way Rethugs can win elections:
Co-opt the SoS. I'm in CA and will do what I can to help Shelley out -- he made the right call on Diebold.

3. That is how they are sneaking in to win the elections.
The Dems have to get into the SoS positions of all the states, and out-maneuver the Repukes. At least that way we have a chance at fair elections. We can get those Diebold and other Electronic voting machines out.

5. What bullshit! I'm going to believe these republican planted stories...
Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 04:06 PM by Zinfandel
just as I believed the same republican planted stories about Clinton or Davis. Shelley hasn't been convicted of anything. Get some fucking facts! Is innocent until proven guilty, too far-fetched for you?

Is it more important to believe a bunch of nicely placed newspaper stories as truth, than is is to seek the real truth...where are these smears coming from?

Where did they magically appear about Clinton or Davis or any Democrat?

FACT is Republicans will control the voting in California if they succeed in running Shelley out of office, something they couldn't do through voting.

And the republicans have the money and the media to do it, as is quite obvious by your post!

4. Already sent my support to Shelley
and requested that he NOT resign. This is a smear job led by the same creeps who took Grey Davis down.

12. Your are right...How do we get good Democrats to see beyond
the smokescreens and the republican bullshit?

Who do you want to control the vote?

That's what really is at stake here!

13. We get good CA dems
to understand that the Thugs want Shelley out by May, so they can do their gerrymandering Texas-style. They think they can fvck around with SoCal enough to actually get a Thug "majority" (non-existent - that's how they did it in TX) in the state.

We need to get active about this and make this VERY visible. I discussed this with a Progressive friend yesterday, who had no idea what was really going on. It's all so under-the-radar - every news article is an editorial, not really "news". They repeat the same old tired saws, none of which have been proven. My friend noticed the same thing, and that none of the newspapers that he would actually read and give credence to had NOTHING about Shelley at all.

This movement needs to get going ASAP.

Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 04:35 PM by LaPera
support of the spineless CA DEMOCRATS! Democrats should recognize the obvious republican coup tactics and stand by Shelley.

After his term is up, next year, then decide how things should go, and if another democrat should run against a republican.

But the republicans know they can't win through a fair election, so they want to force Shelley out NOW.

No fucking way can the democrats allow this to happen!
