13. letterman loathes chimpy.....

i went to the al franken booksigning in VA last week, and as i was getting my book signed, i mentioned seeing al on letterman and said, "it seems that letterman has a healthy loathing of bush," and franken said, "he sure does, for o'reilly too."

sure, he still makes jokes about clinton every now and then, but hwen he makes fun of "bubba," it's more just poking fun, but when he makes fun of chimpy, you can sense a certain amount of spite.

ain't no way chimp is going to appear on letterman before the election. and if he does, dave will be sure to make an ass out of him.

Some months ago - he tried goading Ashcroft into singing. Letterman wasn't mean to him, and just polite enough to stay off the wiretap list. He didn't kiss up to him, like Leno. :puke:

18. Actually, he did let asscroft on his show...

... and it was disgusting. It was the same day Ashcroft announced he was indicting the attorney for that suspected terrorist (sorry, I don't remember names at this point). Letterman basically gave him a free platform from which to propagandize and spin his announcement. Made me feel sick to my stomach.

Then Ashcroft decided to show how "hip" he was and played some early Beatles song on the keyboard... see, he's not a dangerous religious zealot in charge of this country's law enforcement... he's just a normal guy!

I pretty much stopped watching Letterman around that time, but when I've tuned in lately, his show has gotten much better. I still rarely watch, though... I usually have something better to do with that hour of my time.
