Our Put Kids First campaign is drawing national attention to the needs of the 11 million American children living without health insurance. This week, we take it to another level.

In less than 36 hours, President Bush will use his State of the Union speech to stampede the country into a false sense of crisis on Social Security, while ignoring the real and immediate crisis of 11 million American children waking up this morning without health insurance.

But, we won't accept the President's refusal to act as the final word on meeting the needs of our children. Not a chance. Last week, our Senate introduction of the Kids First Act of 2005 added even more energy to our drive for citizen co-sponsors for this vital legislation. Nearly 500,000 people have now signed on to our efforts.

When I laid out our plans in a national speech to Families USA last week, it stood in sharp contrast to the President's "no real answer" photo op on health care the same day in Ohio. And, this past Sunday, I continued carrying our message about covering every child to the national media on Meet the Press.

Here's what's next:

Sorry, I don't need this coming to me and cluttering up my e-mail.

I don't live in Massachusetts where he is Senator, and I don't need this emotional appeals coming through the e-mail when there are such more important issues at the helm, such as the appointment of Gonzales.

What is the matter with this man? HE seems to think that he can make some points by addressing this issue, when the crucial issue is NOT this right now, but the general condidtion of health care for ALL and the appoin tment of Gonzales as the Dr. Torture of the Bush administration.

Once again he is off the crucial topics, so I cancelled my e-mails

Not interested anymore in Kerry and his so very practical, non ideological stance.

I'm a mom, grandmother and aunt. I care about the health and well-being of children.

3. Yeah I am too

I am also caring aobut the health of mothers who cannot afford health care or Medicaid mothers who are denied pregnancy health care and all the others, disabled or in some way not able to access decent health care.

The appeal to pity on the part of children is specious. Nothing will come of it because of it's narrow focus. It is an emotional issue obviously and avoids the real issue==that is the health care and all of it's prejucidice against ALL the people who cannot access it because of it's costs.

We are expected to support this for children and NOT have any choice re the parents of the child or the rest of the citizens who do not have access to affordable health care? Sorry, much as I think children should be afforded health care at a reasonable cost, I think also that ALL, including seniors, should have the same access.
