4. Yes, it was Tim Lahaye and his wife, Franklin Graham and another
black minister of TV fame. Also another guy. Larry was really giving it to them about gays. He said he'd rather have a gay couple raise his child than an arguing, fighting straight couple, or a couple where there was abuse, etc. The LaHayes just spout the same old, same old "the bible says...." literal rhetoric.

8. Great article on LaHaye
Thanks for the link. Amazing isn't it, how someone with such EXTREME views has become mainstream.

I read several of LaHaye's Left Behind books when they first came out, and it frightened the crap out of me when I realized that the guy actually believed the story line. My other lasting impression was of the way LaHaye SSSTTTRRREEETTTCCCHHHEEEDDD out each book. What looked to be a 300 plus page book, could actually be printed on about 100 pages without all the extra spacing and blank pages. I recall thinking that readers who actually BOUGHT these books should be angry that they are being overcharged, not just for the lack of content, but for the way a very short book was padded to appear like a lengthier tome.

10. You're Welcome!!!!!
I found that article very disturbing-especially when LeHaye made *
answer a bunch of questions to make sure he was a worthy candidate-
so he's on the same page as that nut-bag yikes!!!

6. eagh
Whenever an evangelical protests that others are "imposing" their lifestyle (in this instance, a same-sex couple raising a child is "imposing" their lifestyle on the child)... why does no one ever call them on it?

Why doesn't someone say "(a) we're not asking you to change how you live and worship, we're merely asking you to peacefully co-exist with others who don't share your beliefs and (b) by actively working for or against legislation based on your particular religious convictions, aren't you imposing your lifestyle on others?"

I should've called. I should've called. I should've called.

I hate that they get away with that absurd "imposing" bit when that's exactly what they want to do themselves.

7. King is a GOP/fundie propagandist
And a real dull one at that. He is one of the worst interviewers on the planet. He constantly interrupts his guests and goes off on tangents. Since he married his gold-digging fundie mormon wife, he has become even weirder.

9. he bragged about voting for Bush in 2000
The reason these nutcases are mainstream is because people like Larry King and the producers of cable news have *made* them mainstream by booking them.

I haven't watched King in years - there's something lizard-like about him that repulses me.
