Comparison of Cho to Janklow
Background of the story:
http://www.kctv5.com/Global/story.asp?s=1446865

Just yesterday I heard that Mr. Cho was setenced to 7.5 years. Compare that to Janklow who was sentenced to 90 days. I found the cases to be quite similar and they happened at about the same time. Cho was running from the police and finally slammed into another car, killing the other driver. Janklow was just tooling along at his normal excessive speed, blew through a stop sign and hit and killed a motorcyclist.
I tried to find what DU had to say about his sentence when it happened then I remember that Janklow was in the top ten that got deep-sixed because Saddam got captured on that Sunday.
Janklow spoke at my high school in my senior year, but he ought still be in prison. What a justice system we have.

2. thanks for the link
I rather liked this post:
"he sure looked surprised that he was convicted. but 100 days for a death? where he had come close to doing it before? this isn't justice, this is a travesty. There are MJ sellers holding an ounce who get 5 years. No, not a travesty, this is insane."
I was surprised to find that starry poster pizza'd.

5. Was There Ever A Civil Suit?
While the criminal system gave this killer a pass, I would hope the family would have slapped a wreckless homicide suit on him and are pulling every last Repugnican dime from his hide.

7. The family did file a civil suit
And shithead janklowest of low, moved it to the federal court so that way if he's found guilty damages will be paid by the tax payers rather than out of the pigs his own pocket.
:grr: That's typical repiglithug accountability for ya

Judge says taxpayers must pay civil damages in Janklow lawsuit
By Dirk Lammers, Associated Press Writer

SIOUX FALLS — A Minneapolis judge Friday affirmed a federal magistrate's ruling that former U.S. Rep. Bill Janklow was on official business when he caused a crash that killed a motorcyclist.

If the ruling stands, U.S. taxpayers, not Janklow, would pay any civil damages in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Randy Scott's family.

Attorney Ronald Meshbesher wanted the case returned to Scott's home state of Minnesota so the family could seek money from Janklow through punitive damages, which are not allowed in federal court.

Janklow asked to be covered under the Federal Tort Claims Act, which protects federal employees from negligence claims when they're on duty.

Meshbesher, in his objection to the original magistrate's ruling, argued that Janklow's driving habits were so seriously criminal that no employer could have foreseen that kind of conduct from an employee."

8. Was His Drinking On Federal Time As Well?
Yep, figgers...when you have money and clout, justice never stands a chance.

The only thing this killer is remorseful for, is that this incident messed up his political career. Shameless.

6. Re: Bill Janklow
Janklow was closely associated with violent crimes against traditional Lakota people before he was governor. Read "In the Spirit of Crazy Horse."
