Hehe. My contribution to boycotting the media.

I regularly get telemarketers trying to get me to subscribe to their local right wing newspaper. Since our local weekly newspaper, that is perceived as being liberal because they check facts, is free and relies on advertising to pay the bills, I am mostly polite in refusing but today I couldn't help being a tad strident.

I told the telemarketer to ask her employers to scratch me off their list because there was no way I would give my money to support that right wing, conservative Republican bag of editorial lies and Bush/Schwarzenegger propaganda. She said, "Oh I see. I'll pass it on."

I think there are many ways to reach the media whores and hitting them in the bank account is one of them.

edit: But I do the same thing since it feels good to vent... even though it's just somebody on the other line working for $6/hr and doesn't care about anything but the job. I don't think they take screaming too seriously, they are used to it.

3. There is a possibility that there is a sheet of paper or electronic

record they must use to verify that they actually made the calls. I mean if I said yes they would have to take down my data. I hope maybe they might have to explain the refusals if the person doesn't outright hang up on them.

But you're right venting feels good. Oh, I am never blatantly rude to telemarketers because I know the problem goes above them and they are just doing a job.

It was like 20 degrees below zero and snowing, and he was wearing a giant phonebook costume and black tights.

I can just imagine how miserable he must have been to:
1) Have such a shitty job
2) Be freezing his nuts off in his little black tights
3) On top of it, having me calling him a "Republican whore" and telling him to "fuck-off."

And to make things worse, a couple of ten year old kids behind me threw all his brochures on the sidewalk for some reason.

5. Yes, unless they are getting "grants" from the Bush

Administration to operate in the red, they need to be squeezed dry. I'm thinking that contacting their advertisers would be a good idea too stating that you aren't buying that product anymore until they stop advertising in a newspaper/magazine that is nothing more than a propaganda outlet for the new American Nazis.

6. What you couldn't do

because it's illegal, if you really wanted to take a bite out of MSM, is to find out what record labels and movie studios are associated with which networks and then make copies of the movies and CD's they produce and give them out free - leave them at the local library, coffee shop etc. But as I said, you cannot do this because it would be against the law...too bad though. :evilgrin:

8. Yes, but be very careful...

because if somebody might accidently do something illegal, it is my understanding that some music downloading sites (maybe all) electronically stamp your name on the file when you buy it.
