Freepazoid debating tactics
Edited on Wed Feb-02-05 03:16 PM by Sugarcoated
I was "discussing" the inaugural minders story with some friends of mine on another non-political board, and this idiot takes every point and fact I posted and this is the tack they take. Could they be anymore partisan-ly idiotic?

"The WP reporter says consider that the escorts weren't there to provide security; their real purpose only occurred to him after he had gone home for the night, when he remembered a brief conversation with a woman he was interviewing." - me

Gee, for an on site "reporter" this WP reporter doesn't sound very observant, huh?

"During the middle of oan otherwise innocuous encounter, she suddenly noticed the presence of his minder. She stopped for a moment, glanced past him, then resumed talking." - me

There's no mention of the "minder" wearing a name tag that read, "I'm HIS minder" but this woman made the connection immediately. While the paid on site WP reporter, who is trained to observe just such things, was completely oblivious. Uh huh! "Minder", is that anything like the "grassy knoller"?

"But maybe someday they'll be monitoring something more important than an inaugural ball, and the source could be you." - me

Stop it, you're scaring me.

"And now Armstrong Williams and two other "journalists" are caught getting paid by Bush to promote their programs, and it then becomes propaganda." - me

You do know there are many non-profit agencies and organizations that receive government funding: the ACLU, NAACP, Planned Parenthood, PBS, NPR, the Arts, public and private schools, the Space program, stem cell research, Congress, former living US Presidents etc. Are they also doing propaganda for Pres Bush?

"I didn't hear anything about the confiscation of media at the Radio City Kerry fundraiser, that's a new one on me. But, it it's true, it was absolutely wrong." - me

Well you wouldn't have read about it cause when the left does things they accuse others of doing its rarely if ever reported. They don't hold themselves to the same standards they hold everybody else.

1. One discussion I had turned into this:
Edited on Wed Feb-02-05 03:23 PM by XanaDUer
RW Loon: Terrorism will be defeated by Bush in four years (:eyes:).

Me: That is not possible.

RW Loon: We had to go to war with IRaq! Terrorism is all over the Middle East, blah blah,

Me: If it is all over the Middle East, why did we go to Iraq?

(Long pause)

RW Loon: What about beheadings!? Do you support beheadings!? What about them, huh?! We should just nuke all those towelheads!!

So much for debate.

3. The same nut said
to me that he is grateful for the sacrifice those who died made to secure his freedom.

He is wealthy now from inheriting a business from his stepfather, and he is grateful for the poor people who died to keep him free!

There are times I feel I am losing my mind.

5. I shut a freaker down on hate crimes the other day
Him: It's wrong to have extra penalities for hate crimes. If you kill someone, you must have hated him, right?

Me: We have extra penalties for terrorism.

Him: So what's your point?

Me: Well, if you kill someone, you obviously intended to scare them, right? So why the extra penalties?

Him: Are you saying that terrorism isn't a crime?

Me: No. We give extra penalties to terroristic acts because the intent of the act is to terrorize others. We give extra penalties for hate crimes for the same reason- if the KKK lynches a black man, part of the intent of the act is to terrorize all black people, and their supporters, the same way that the 9/11 hijackers intended to terroize the US and its supporters.

Then POOF! he disappeared.

6. You should have seen the whoa nellie! moment
Edited on Wed Feb-02-05 03:33 PM by XanaDUer
when he first said that we had to go to Iraq, and then telling me that terrorism is all over the ME!

I just had to get that zinger in. No answer, of course.

Oh, and the kicker, he said something about better to fight the terrorist over there than over here.

Straight out of the Freepers' Debate Book, chapter 3, section, 5, page 301.

There is no way to debate people whose philosophies come from bumper stickers.

4. Why'd you waste your time debating someone who's stapled their eyes shut?

"And now Armstrong Williams and two other "journalists" are caught getting paid by Bush to promote their programs, and it then becomes propaganda." - you

-Freepazoid

Yes, but I don't hear them gushing over how great the Democrats are either. Stem cell research has been all but eliminated, Congress is indeed just an extension of Dubya's arm, and former US Presidents will generally support their own sides. Get with the program. We're talking about a journalist who is supposed to be impartial instead shilling for Bush to the tune of thousands of dollars. - me

"I didn't hear anything about the confiscation of media at the Radio City Kerry fundraiser, that's a new one on me. But, it it's true, it was absolutely wrong." - you

Well you wouldn't have read about it cause when the left does things they accuse others of doing its rarely if ever reported. They don't hold themselves to the same standards they hold everybody else.--Freepazoid

Actually, we would. We would have heard about it for hours. Days. Weeks. Then, when it had finally exhausted itself, we would hear why they devoted hour after hour of news to the story for hours. Days. Weeks. Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, and Rush Limbaugh would have proclaimed the end of the Democratic Party. Ann Coulter would have wet his/her briefs with happiness. Then we would be subjected to how EEEEEEEVIL Kerry and the Democrats are for hours. Days. Weeks.

Get a grip and actually pay attention to the news. -me
