but last year when she and Daschle did it I could hardly watch it. They both had constant smiles and their happy voices on and with the lack of facial expression it was like looking at two plastic dolls. Add that to the lack of outrage and it was almost worse than watching the SOTU with Bush**.

how cool would it be to have him use humor to highlight the hypocrisy of bush's message ...

no one will listen to the droning of Democratic policy wonks ... without passion, without powerful (and satirical) opposition, with a "we're all Americans and blah blah blah", they might as well not say anything ... because no one will be watching ...

you want an audience; you put on a good show ... yakking about policy, no matter how important it is and no matter how much attention it deserves, just isn't going to fly ...

Democrats need humor ... we need drama ... we need passion ... we need fire and combativeness ... droning on about social security will get very low ratings ...

should it be this way ??? no, of course not ... but Democrats need to understand that the first rule of presentation is to be interesting and yes, perhaps even entertaining ... you can mix in a little "wonk", but it's got to be a seasoning not a main course ... it's too bad but that's the way it is ...
