My first jaded thought would be, destroying or altering that much evidence takes time.

3. It's apparently taking some bit of time for the vote count
to come out exactly the way the Bush Administration wants it to.

4. They said from the very beginning
it would take 10 - 15 days to count all the votes. It's only been 3 so far.

7. You bring up exactly why I'm suspicious
It takes two weeks to count the votes of a country with 25 million people, of which maybe 8 million actually voted?

Uh huh.

15. Well, seeing as just about the ~entire~ election committee QUIT
less than 10 days before the election, and there are 8 million votes, and if you're lucky on a scale of ten you've got 1000 vote counters that's 8000 votes per person - all of which must be verified.

Also, all the votes have to be trucked into secure areas so the US can burn the ones they don't like and rig the election.

( like the bait and switch? :D )

5. They said that within a day or two, they would know how many voted.
And with our crack US media, there has been absolutely no follow up. * wouldn't announce it in his SOTUS tonight, would he?

8. I wouldn't be surprised if Bush gave a "surprise" announcement
That Allawi was the winner.

17. If this happens
then I think we will demonstrations in the streets the likes of which we cannot imagine in this country. Sistani, and hundreds of thousands of protestors, insisted on this election. They will not stand stil while Bushie and Diebold steal it. They have more guts than we do, I think.

Also, has anyone heard about a group of about 200 people who Allawi or Chalabi have already blacklisted from any involvement with the new govt? I came across it today and cannot find it now.

9. And where is the wall-to-wall "Decision: Iraq" news* coverage?
Where is my map with the red provinces and the blue provinces? Where are my pundits to tell me why Allawi cleaned up among mosque-going Shiite males between 35 and 55? When are they going to call al-Anbar province for Sistani, for Pete's sake??

13. Yes but Allawi did well with people who .....
...... Did not want to get shot in the head by a pistol in a police station.

16. How are they counting/certifying the votes?
If it's a hand-count, it would take awhile I'd think.

18. It takes time for the ex-pat Iraqi votes to come in ...
... and override the votes of the Iraqis who merely live in their own country ...
