Susan Lee, Economist on NPR

I just listened to Susan Lee discuss the merits of personal (not private) accounts on NPR. Pro Privatization for the following reasons:

1. The courts have ruled Social Security is a tax.
2. Congress can cut benefits or cancel Social Security at any time.
(I am assuming that she is talking about a Republican Congress, need to note that Democrats running.)

But with PERSONAL (note the change in language) accounts

1. You own them.
2. You can leave them to your heirs when you die.

She is an economist w/ The Journal (PBS and the WSJ.) But she was reading right from the ReThuglican Playbook. I think in lieu of evidence to the contrary, we need to point out that "journalist" such as these might be part of the Payola Pundit Scandal.

She did not try to present a balanced arguement. It was all the stick (they'll take it away,) and the carrot (IT'S YOURS.)

Just my opinion.

In fact, if she gave a balanced (or even critical!) assessment, I'd be surprised, & would wonder why TPTB let one slip through.

4. Thanks, I will do so. But my point is that "journalists" should

objectively present us with ALL the facts, and allow us to make up our own minds, not feed us "talking points" from one side. That calls into question their "journalistic" reputations.
