"A Dem who goes with Bush may find himself facing a Kos-funded opponent"
Steve Gilliard, talking about why Bush is going to lose on Social Security:

"The GOP House and Senate members are nervous because they know that the Dems can ride this to a 2006 electoral success. Their only hope is to break off enough Dems to make this seem bipartisan. The only problem is that the funding mechanism in the Democratic Party has changed. It is broader and deeper than the GOP. A Dem who goes with Bush may well find himself facing a Kos-funded opponent, drawing cash from across the country. A Dem who abandons the party may well face a slow starving of funds, or not so slow. And now that the FEC database is online, people can hit their contributors as well. Go for Bush, and your contributors may get e-mails from your challenger going after you. And you will have a challenger."

Nice to remember how strong we really are.

4. We damn well better challenge those DINOs.
Besides, the job has great benefits, medical and a fabulous pension. I say we all file to run and keep doing it till we all have matching benefits.
