Bush did a good job
He spoke simply, always on message and focused.

Let the battle begin.

1. What is this an echo?
The battle is already raging and Americans are being killed. Slick words and lying promises aren't going to change anything.

9. Why is "focused and on message"
the best they can say about him? Like they were afraid he'd rant like an idiot. They're so proud he can read from a script.

17. Wait - I didn't see that other thread
This thread was not meant as spam - simply the acknowledgment that while Bush lied through his teeth about SS he did it within the confines of a well delivered speech.

So let the battle for SS begin.

Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 12:30 AM by Erika
Bush on message and focused in his calling out Nazi commands.

Alert sent. How sad they support a president who refuses to take in the views of all Americans and looks for compromise rather than disenfranchising those who don't believe exactly as he and his corporate buddies, and religious fantaics, do.

Bush is a trained chimp. Who ever paid to have him trained seriously needs to get their money back.

11. yeah.

If "simply" = belying intelligence and concern, "on message" = stuck on stupid and unwilling to refuse the koolaid, and "focused" = disinterested in your Orwellian world, I suppose you could call what he did a "good job".

Battle? For what? There's nothing to gain. You're already lost.

He is a fraud, an evil one at that, there is nothing "good" in anything he does! And all the spin in the world won't undo those facts.

"Always on message and focused..."
Translation...don't let the TelePrompter break.

Also, he is not flexible, even when wrong.

Have a good time here at DU.

18. Battles and death seem to be message one, so yes he did a
good job of staying on message. Death and destruction of our personal freedoms and of the dark skinned people of the world who won't willingly give Halliburton, bush and company all of their assests without a fight. Who are you anyway?

19. Yes, he spoke to his base on their level
and I would guess he spoke on the level of a 5th grader. I think that was the age level of his debate according to an expert on that sort of thing.

20. I've been here since 2001, and...
bush* did a good job at delivering a well prepared speech that will resonate with his base. We are in for a battle.

His speech tutor deserves a bonus. I'm not saying this because I like bush* (I hate him). It is a simple statement of FACT. He has improved immensely since his first SOTU. One of the few problems that still remain is that psychotic smirk when he thinks he did good.

The Democratic response has improved only marginally.

24. I don't know one person from Livingston who participated
Livingston is actually a progressive town - kind of a redneck type of progressive, but still progressive. We have great artists and writers that live here. And we have the world's best trout stream flowing right through our fair rocky mountain town.

25. Simple, on message, and focused?
I would note that a sixthgrader with a TRS80 could have done the very same thing with a staggering one whole line of BASIC. I mean come on, I do not see any of those three as necessarily a good sign. If thats the whole 'trifecta' of your leaders' thoughts and talents, you might have better leadership with a TRS80.

:freak:

34. Because the President made a good case
for his agenda. That's what SOTU addresses are about. As these speeches go, it was good. Of course, that doesn't mean one needs to agree, it just means he did a good job of advancing his agenda. Nonetheless, I doubt he he will be able to reform SS, without major compromises with Democrats in congress.

31. That speech was substandard even for him
Vanilla, boring, uninspired and laced with empty promises. Some of this stuff he promised 4 years ago. If you think he's going to actually push for 10% of the stuff he was talking about(excluding social security), you haven't been paying much attention to his presidency. He wants Ethanol like he wants his nose hair set on fire. Most of it was half-truths. I can't imagine anyone not working for Fox News thought this was a good speech.

35. It was a good speech
But like most SOTUs, not of lasting consequence. He's got a big problem with SS reform. There's lots of House Republicans who are uneasy about this.
