My weekend with an international committee

I spent this past weekend in a working group for my professional association. We are a worldwide body and there were people from all over the world there. There were Brits, Germans, Dutch, Americans, Australians, French, and Filipino.

I was on my best behavior. They know I am a political junkie not to be engaged in political discussions without consequences. :)

Well, someone brought up politics - as always happens with this group! There is only one of them who is even slightly to the right of center, and he's an American who voted Kerry this time, so that tells you a bit about the group's political dynamic!

In any case, during the discussion I said: "I have an idea! Why don't you all get your countries to band together and invade us!"

Is that treasonous? :)

By the way, it is most interesting to me that all of the people in the group know more about our politics than the majority of our own people do! Interesting .... but sad, when you think about it.

Cause I doubt that they could get their countries to do that.

Look at us. We can't even get them to count the votes over here. Citizens just don't have that kind of pull anymore.

While the MSM was lauding the Iraq elections this week, I turned on Deutchewella (sp?) and listened to a story about how reduced participation of ethnic groups is a recipe disaster -- as proven by post-colonial government after post-colonia government around the world over the last 50 years.
