Questions that families of the war dead MUST ask themselves
I know it's a terrible thing to lose a loved one, under ANY circumstances, but once that patriotic hallucination wears off, and they are alone in their sorrow, they MUST be asking themselves these questions...or they SHOULD be..

What if our president and his "advisors" had not lied about the reason for the war?

What if Colin Powell had REFUSED to lie to the UN?

What if the weapons inspectors' findings had gotten the press attention they deserved?

Does anyone really believe that Iraq was going to attack the US?

Why did most of the world shun our "war"? (Can they really ALL be wrong?)

Why did Iraq not fight back? (during the pre-insurgent phase)?

Why are so few (just how many ARE there? ) congressperson's/senators'/high-level administration people's sons/daughters are fighting in Iraq?

If there is no need for a draft, why are our troops "not allowed" to leave when their tours are over?

There are surely more questions, but these are all irrefutable FACTS. That neatly folded flag, those bumper stickers and all the other accoutrements of military families are of little comfort when the cold hard truth sinks in. There will be no grandchildren from that 20 year old who didn't want to work at Del Taco, or who "just missed" the cut at a scholarship.. And he or she will remain forever young and tender in their families' hearts as they always wonder what kind of a Dad he would have been or what kind of a mother she would have been.

Did they die because they were misled into a war that was unnecessary from the beginning? Did they KNOW it once they got there and saw the chaos? Were they afraid to tell anyone about their fears?

Was it worth it?

3. They could have been STOPPED in their tracks if the press
had called them on it.. I could not believe my eyes and ears when they got away with it day after day after day after day ...

A few well chosen words from the press would have stopped them..

2. Those poor families...
They have to justify it somehow or the anger will destroy them...they can become active in fighting against the war but most probably don't have the ways or means to do it... So it's our job, our senators job, the MEDIA's job to help get the rest home...and then go after this bunch for war crimes...there would be the justice for these families.

Not ONE vote was worth one American life...

4. It's not "families of"...it's "republican families of"
Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 08:01 AM by LynnTheDem
The majority of bush supporters STILL believe Iraq did 911, STILL believe Iraq had "WMD", STILL believe there were ties between Iraq & al Qaeda, STILL believe the world supported bush's invasion of Iraq, STILL believe the majority of experts said Iraq had "WMD"...

The vast majority of Democrat families know the above is all untrue.

Some day, the republican families will catch up to reality & truth as Democrats have long ago. Some day.

5. Another question
Republican parents should ask themselves this:
Why is it that we we're calling them names like "sand ni**ers" and wanting to turn Iraq into a "sheet of glass" but now my child has died for them to have purple fingers to wave in the air?

6. I didn't watch the speech...
...but on NPR this morning I heard the report including the report of Laura's guests. My first reaction was to question the gullibility of the parents who had lost a son in the fighting. I said to my wife that first they let * kill their son and then they let him whore their grieving over a lost son.
