i am so glad my parents are over 55
I don't think I'll be able to support them in their retirement years AND save for college for my kids(since I am not counting on financial aid being an option, even though we'd certianly qualify by today's standards) AND save for my own retirement.

Maybe we should just accept our second class citizenship status and stop hoping for a better future - it's obviously futile.

4. it's hard, there are so many damn problems
I think the top two are since we know no one will ever hold republicans accountable we have GOT to get the Democratic reps to DO THEIR DAMN JOBS.

And something has GOT to be done about the corporte media - it's OBSCENE what they don't tell us about bush inc. I am convinced that if people knew the real truth about what the neocons are up to they would RIOT IN THE STREETS WITH PITCHFORKS.

3. I'm so glad my husband is 53.
G*d Damn bush**! So my husband who has paid into SS for 35 years is considered a "young worker" according to bush**? Oh I guess we have plenty of time to invest in bush**'s PONZI SCHEME so we won't have to work until we have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. IOW until the day we f**king DIE! :argh: :grr:

5. I wouldn't be celebrating yet.
Everything he says is a lie. I think the 55+ will be as screwed as everyone else.

6. Don't Be Gullible - Remember This Is Coming From A Man That.....
told us there would be no rush to war; that Saddam had WMD; and that Bin Laden would be taken dead or alive.

I'm 56 and I don't trust this guy. It was all window dressing last night. All done to boost his popularity ratings. He'll say anything. So when he said everything is on the table re: SS - don't believe it. Only thing he'll push for is his 'Piratization Retirement Plans'. The 150 programs that will be cut - will be in the states of those Senators and Congressmen that don't support him.

I woke up to C-SPAN featuring Democratic Women Senators who where on the floor of the Senate this a.m. - and supporting SS. Do you think we'll see their speeches on the MSM. I doubt it. Hopefully it will be replayed on C-SPAN again later today. If you didn't catch it - try and watch it later.

I hope AARP won't be lulled into a false sense of security by *'s 55+ comment and roll over like they did on prescription drugs.
If they do - the members that they have that didn't leave them when they supported * on prescription drugs will be leaving this
time.
