anti Islam, anti gay RW talk radio attacks Tulsa school board member
Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 11:20 AM by bobbieinok
Michael DelGiorno, KFAQ1170am talk show host, is on a 'crusade' against a school board member who has advocated/said something DelG disagreed with.

I heard only a bit Wed; apparently the board member suggested that the schools/the city (?) use a procedure to discuss controversial subjects. A 'concerned christian parent' wrote him and Del. Del read his email to the listener in which he deplored the 'fact' that 'a talk show host could lie about someone on the air.'

Del urged everyone to vote against this member at the next election.

The only internet info on the situation I was able to find is at

http://www.renewamerica.us/columns/shroder/041020

This is similar to some of what Del was saying, but it is not about the current situation, I believe.

Today Del attacked the other Tulsa RE radio station for not broadcasting live W's proclamation of a National Day of Prayer. DelG said to ignore a 'presidential speech during a Holy War' was unconscionable.

life in OK......

3. It sounds like bs to me
In the article on the link, nothing is mentioned about whether this is college or K-12 education involved with the book mentioned. I'm all for college students and advanced high school students critically reading the material and researching possible falsehoods for themselves as an assignment. It's good for their education.

As far as any religion being addressed in school curriculi goes, it should usually be discussed as part of social studies class, to learn about people who live in certain parts of the world, or it's influence on different cultures (for older kids). The discussions should be open, but not offensive to any religion.

Uhhhhh. "Holy War" Exactly what was he talking about? The culture war in America or the Iraqi War? Either way it is very dangerous language.

5. Local Baptist minster to preach anti-Muslim sermon this Sunday...
This guy is not a televangelist, but he advertises his church services on local TV (Shreveport, La.). He is typically a soft-spoken, smiley, full-O-the Holy Spirit kind of guy.

He gets on this week to push his Sunday sermon and asks, "What makes a person go out into a crowd and blow himself up to kill other people? And what makes a person behead (runs left hand horizontally across throat) another person. Come hear 'Islam Unveiled'. Learn the truth about Islam."

It's just some more of that "My God is bigger and better than your God" crap. Look out for this kind of thing to intensify and grow much more prevalent. The fruitcake RW fundies have been emboldened by BushCo.'s latest election theft. Everything is "going their way" and they plan to get a LOT more brazen with the proseletyzing... just watch! It's going to get much worse, if it ever gets any better.
