why we are losing the social secuirty battle
The democrats are letting the neocons frame the argument. We are immediately on the defensive

Most people do not even understand what the republicans are proposing. Many believe that they can invest the so-called social security private accounts whereever they want.

What is the purpose of IRAs, Roths, 401Ks, etc?

Social security is a saftey net to protect people who don't have anything. It is Iras, roths, etc that are instruments for people to retire with.

Why don't the democrats SCREAM that this proposal has NOTHING to do with making Social Secuirty solvent, instead it will help doom it to failure much quicker

Personally I think the odds are against social security surviving

In addition, the neocons are proposing taking the burden of healthcare expenses from companies, and transferring to employees

we haven't seen anything yet

1. Democrats need to take a high school level debate course.
He who frames the argument wins the debate. That's the first thing you learn.

4. We will not lose the battle
I started today - I made a flyer of talking points using the WP article and a couple of others, made copies and distributed it to all of my coworkers. I explained they need to read it and understand what's at stake because it's their future.
I will continue to give my flyers to everyone I can, leave them in public places and talk to anyone who will listen.
We must make people understand and we can if we make the effort.

11. Make sure you check the update
on that article. There was a major correction. Check LBN. We need to make sure our arguments are accurate.

7. I Don't Think It's Being Lost
and I think a lot of the framing is being done by the media. Democrats don't always explain the issue the way I would, but I haven't much in the way of accepting the Republican terms of debate.

17. Yeah, but the Opinion-Makers and the Members of Congress
are less likely to spring for something like this.

If the law is passed, younger workers may be better off with accounts. I wouldn't blame them for signing up. But the rest of us would be worse off.

18. I Really don't think we are
Most of the Senate is against this. You must be watchin' the T.V. again

But if you want to see how they are able to convince the sheep that what they tell them is true, you should see this FRONTLINE

<http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/persuaders/>

If you only have a limited time, make sure you watch the last 1/2 Hour.
