We can bash the DINO Lieberman without being accused of anti-semitism
DU has come a long way. I remember way back when it was verbotten to bash Lieberman because people couldn't seperare his claimed religion from his politics.

Now, I suppose, things are a lot clearer, although I still think Joe won't be happy about being filmed during one of his gay kissing sessions. To be fair, he was suckered into it, and also to be fair, if it were me, I would have pulled away, not smiled and thanked him like old Joe did. In fact, if I were Bush's target for the kiss, he would have kissed the palm of my hand because there's no way I would let Bush's ugly face within three feet of my face without that defensive posture.

You know, free association. Wool-gathering.

Bashing someone more intelligent and respected than you is rarely a good idea. But go for it. The Left should embrace their one guy who the rest of the country actually tolerates in the Party. You burn these bridges and guess what, we Dems will lose again, and again, and again, and again.

9. And you know this , How???
Do you have personal knowledge that Lieberman is more intelligent or more respected then the person who started this thread.

I guess that's what it's all about, as long as the other side actually tolerates this one Democratic senator, we on the "Left" should praise him and acknowledge him as the savior of the Democratic Party.

I don't think so!!!!

But this being America, everyone is entitled to thier own opinion.

By the way welcome to DU.

Ummmm.....no

In case you didn't notice, there were many Dems who won their Senate and House re-elections in '04. Evidently, they were tolerable enough to be given another term.

Especially if they are supposedly more intelligent and "respected."

I guess Lieberman is more respected than those of us here because he is a POLITICIAN who plays ball with the good ole' boys.

17. "We Dems" huh
Maybe it shows more about the level of tolerance that the "rest of the country" ie. Republican red-staters have that they can only tolerate those who toe the party line than it says about those of us who refuse to toe the party line.

21. The only reason anyone was for Lieberman
was so that no matter which way the election went, they'd have a president they liked.

11. Oh yeck --- you should have warned us --
Answer: It doesn't matter what his religion or ethnicity -- frankly I don't give a damn. I really don't want to know anything at all about someone's religion. It doesn't matter -- he is still a wimpy creep.

It is in the best interest of the US to reject this bushie nominated AG. I can assure you that the whole world is watching and shaking their heads.

For Democrats to find their spines and object shows the world that at least SOME Americans still have their morals. This vote was really a message to the world.

Leaving the religion or race out of it is a safe way to criticize LIEberman, the traitor. No need to blame race or religion for someone's incompetency.
