one of those chickenhawks like Lieberman...I live in Florida too and was VERY disappointed also. If it was a House of Representatives vote I think the outcome would be MUCH different.

We don't feel as if we have Senators, certainly we don't feel represented by them. Is that clear enough?

23. My letter to Richard Lugar
Senator Lugar,

I generally find your positions on most issues that come before the senate to be reasonable and well considered. I have always thought that within the limitations of political realities, you hold to principals and maintain high levels of integrity.

I am dumbfounded at your confirmation vote for the Attorney General. I won’t presume to lecture you on the morality of abandoning the Geneva Convention for political expediency. For all of the good work you have done, this act causes me to lose respect for so much past work. I am deeply disappointed that you would bend to these crass politics, because I do not believe for one second that you think it is wise for our government to support torture. The blood of American soldiers that are brutally tortured is on the hands of those representatives that would vote to confirm this obviously inferior candidate.

It is a sad day in America. If justice were to prevail, which it never does, the future victims of this unconscionable decision would be those that support this decision, or those that made it. You are standing on the wrong side on this dark day.

26. I'm so proud of Tim Johnson (D) SD
Tim is a pretty conservative dem. His constituents here in SD will certainly hold his nay vote against him, because Bush remains popular here. Good for Tim for voting real American values and saying no to torture. Email being sent to him right now.

Our other senator, Thune, of course voted yea. No surprise there, he is a Bush apologist and lapdog. Barf.
