Is there a roll call of the Alberto Gonzales vote?
Did John McCain vote for him, or was McCain not present?

6. Thanks. I'm impressed by some of the Democrats who voted No.
Hillary Clinton and Chris Dodd haven't been good on the issue of verified-voting, but I'm glad that they oppose torture.

9. I'm impressed overall
Clinton, Schumer, Fienstein, Cantwell, and a few others voted no after voting yes for Condi.

I'm absolutely disgusted by Lieberman. Bush's kiss must have REALLY had an effect on him.

Then again, the kiss was just payback for Lieberman kissing Bush's ASS all these years.

8. No six Democrats voted for Alberto Gonzales.
From my blog, http://moveleft.com

The Senate voted to confirm Alberto Gonzales as Attorney General by 60 to 36.

Every Republican who voted cast a YES vote (Party of Torture).

Most Democrats voted NO (Party of Human Rights).

The exceptions, Democrats who voted for Alberto Gonzales, are Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, Ken Salazar of Colorado, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Bill Nelson of Florida, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, and Mark Pryor of Arkansas.

If there is a primary challenger to Joe Lieberman in 2006, I will support the challenger.

I don't always agree with the other Senator from Connecticut, Chris Dodd (D), but this passage involving him is worth quoting ("Gonzales wins confirmation as attorney general" by Frank Davies, Knight Ridder via The Kansas City Star, Feb. 3, 2005):

Several Democrats said their vote was one of principle, not politics.

Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., recalled that his father, former Sen. Thomas Dodd, was executive trial counsel at the war-crimes trials of Nazi leaders after World War II.

"Many at that time called not for due process of law, but summary executions," Dodd recalled. "But even these most despicable and depraved human beings were given an opportunity to retain counsel and testify in their own defense."

Dodd added: "The world learned that this nation will not tailor its eternal principles to the conflict of the moment."

5. McCain voted yes. After enduring years of torture in Vietnam he
must have gotten used to it and thought it a good idea to vote for Gonzales

7. McCain sickens me.
Probably wants some sort of revenge for what was done to him.
