What if Democrats formed a 50 state "shadow gov't"?
Right now, Democrats in Congress can't get much done dueto the minority status in both chambers. What if all the state Democratic party members threw fundraisers and chose a few key issues to work on that show Democratic principles? Create empowerment zones, fix up urban areas, fix schools, ets.

Shrubya is going to dismantle all govt programs. I knew this would happen. My first thought as I was watching the planes hit NYC on 9-11, i had a gut feeling shrub would use this to unfund education, SS, etc. It has come to pass. And if Dems don't run a shadow govt, we'll have to start from scratch if we ever get back in power.

1. I have an idea to create some kind of invisible movement
But, if the RW'ers learned of it, my plan would be compromised faster than you can say "Neo-Con".

3. Cool. We will need some more people for this
I have had it on the drawing board for a while. It's something tht most people probably wouldn't expect but can act as a way to exchange unreported news, Anti-Bush and Anti-Republican files, documents, etc.

Maybe in this new day and age, we can move this plan forwards.

It is actually common in countries where the ruling power isn't taking care of it's citizens for people to form alternative infrastruture.

People are actually forming one already, here is a compilation of links I made of ideas and organizations already doing this sort of thing-

Give me more links in the reply section, especially on the political end.

:)

4. what if citizens against the evil empire acted locally?
right now, pinning hopes on the Democratic Party at the national level has been a failure for decades. I think its best to step out of the big top and look at local elections, organize solid progressive democratic public interest platforms and candidates and secure your locality from the toadies that normally run things into the ground.
To me, thats the best non-violent solution to a fascist oligarchy firmly entrenched at state and national levels.

My first thought as I was watching the planes hit NYC on 9-11, i had a gut feeling shrub would use this to unfund education, SS, etc.

Really? Honestly?

My first thought as I was watching the planes hit NYC on 9/11 was something to the effect of "Holy fuck". Rounding out the top ten list were:

(2) "Oh shit"
(3) "What the hell is going on here?"
(4) "All those people..."
(5) "Who is responsible for this?"
(6) "Holy fucking Christ!"
(7) "Shit shit shit shit shit shit shit..."
(8) "I need to call everyone I know and make sure they're safe."
(9) "I want the people responsible for this to pay."
(10) "Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck."

Your first thought was "Man, now Shrub will de-fund social security?"

What planet do you live on?

8. On a Related Note... Bush's Top Ten
(1) "That Zip Lock commercial said that yellow and blue make green. I wonder if that's true. I should ask Karl."
(2) "Maybe I shouldn't have eaten all that paste when I was younger."
(3) "Duhhhhhhh...."
(4) "I like bananas."
(5) "I hope everything turns out okay for this girl's pet goat."
(6) "Well you can tell by the way I use my walk I'm a woman's man, no time to talk..."
(7) "I wonder how many of the kids in this room are smarter than me. Probably all of them except the one eating his own boogers. That's probably a toss-up."
(8) "If I cross my eyes I can see two of everything. Heh heh. Cool."
(9) "I want chicken, I want liver, Meow Mix Meow Mix please deliver."
(10) "I hope there's a naptime after this story."

13. I guess I should have added my first not in shock thought
Of course I said oh shit, etc, and a bit of we'll be talking Arabic (before we even knew it was AQ) or Chinese, and similar other shock things, but as I thought of who was in charge and what he'd do - I turned to my Dad and said "say good bye to social security."

I may be strange, but I get a lot of gut feeling like this, that are seemingly unrelated, esp when it comes to the mad cowboy..

12. People are doing it
People are already doing it.

Poeple are working through their state and local governments to get what they need, and when that fails, they are creating their own networks. There are so many out there, it is amazing to me what people are doing:)

14. Democratic parties should start
food banks and job boards in each state and each county.
Democratic leaning churches, like UU, should apply for Faith-based money.
