2. I have been so impressed with these women

two years ago i would have just written them off as clueless
popstars. it is heartening to see people break into the
bigtime and still be willing to say what they believe
unlike that robot brittany

4. I would kinda support them (would wholeheartedly if they hadn't caved in)
like they did before...

Dean rode his message allllll the way through the tunnel of right-winged idiocy (sorry for being redundant there) and came out the other side like a freight train...THEY should have done the same...

I mean...I know now how they feel so even if they apologize I know their affiliation but they lost their nerve...

5. Ah, Yes--I Remember It Well
Edited on Tue Sep-09-03 02:39 PM by rocknation
...after anti-George Bush remarks made by singer Natalie Maines onstage in London erupted into a conservative backlash in the United States...

I remember that backlash well: the poor things ended up with a multi-platinum album, a sold out tour, and enough radio stations boycotting them to count on one hand!

7. "I don't think these girls know what they're in for when they get back.'
--Sean Hannity

I love quoting conservative predictions that fizzled

remember how when the tour opener was successful, lucianne goldberg suddenly decided that it was 'an overplayed story' and not oly ended her daily anti-maines rants, but banned any reference to the dixie chicks on lucianne.com?

now that was funny!

18. The Dixie Chicks'll be okay
I'd rather have a single Dixie Chick looking out for me than a squad of Navy Seals.

These ladies have talent, brains, GUTS, and class.

16. I was just kidding
but I don't think people should be stripped from their credentials just because they are a celebrity. I am sure Martin Sheen would make one hell of a CA governor.

13. "CLEAR CHANNEL" Will Have Fabricate Another "Spontenous Boycott"
Just like the first one they fabricated at the CEO's direction for his old buddy, George Bush.

I'm sure the asshole is already phoning Michael Powell and Karl Rove about how to "handle" this.

I just can't see myself listening to a country music chick band. Maybe I could just buy their CD and toss it. Maybe give it to someone at work.

They speak out and that's a good use of their position, they're to be commended. Anybody got a web address?

21. I am a heavy metal dude, and I dig the Dixie Chicks. Try 'em.
They are more bluegrass than country, and they are worlds way from the Tobey Keiths and the Darryl Worleys of the world. That is, they can actually sing AND play their instruments (and a variety at that).

I bought two of their CDs right after the initial "ashamed Bush is from Texas" hubbub, and I wasn't disappointed. I listen to them all the time. They are just a refreshing change from all the heavily-marketed lipsynching fashion models that pass for "music" today.

And yeah, I stare at the CD covers. So what?
