Bush to Seek $419.3 BILLION for Defense
WASHINGTON - President Bush will ask Congress for $419.3 billion for the Pentagon for next year, 4.8 percent more than this year's spending as the administration seeks to beef up and reshape the Army and Marine Corps for fighting terrorism.

The request will not include money for wars in Iraq (news - web sites) and Afghanistan. Congress already has appropriated $25 billion for those this year, and the White House is planning to request another $80 billion soon.

9. Let's see. We already spend more than the next 10 highest nations totals.
And that does NOT include the cost of fighting an actual war.

WTF are we paying for? The Soviet Union is no more. What in the hell could we possibly need to spend that much money for?

12. I'd like to a see a real break down of how that money is spent.
What percentage goes to contractors like Halliburton, Bechtel, GE, etc., and what goes to justifiable expenses like military salaries and benefits.
