Walmart building or destroying communities?
NPR is playing underwriting announcements from Walmart that sound an awful lot like commercials. These Walmart commercials always declare how virtuous walmart is by "building communities." Often times these commercials air mere minutes after a report stating that Walmart is destroying communities.

I've decided to with hold my renewal of my contribution to my local NPR affiliate (KQED) until this matter is resolved. I have several friends who feel the same way. How do you feel?

2. The destroyed two holy sites
One in Hawaii that I believe was a graveyard, and the other was in South America destroying some Inka holyground. Taking advantage of South America didn't surprise me so much, though it pissed me off, but Hawaii? That's f'ed up.

3. You realize the Catch-22 here...
that the more you boycott listener-sponsored stations, the more they have to go after money from places like Wal-Mat.

8. they destroy communities!
They offer shitty jobs with no benefits and wipe out the mom and pop stores, thereby putting a lot of people out of work.

I fucking hate Walmart and their bullshit "it is so much fun to work here" commercials.

9. Pity
NPR has sold it's soul to the Bentonville Beast. If the Bush administration would fully fund NPR then public radio wouldn't have to take handouts from thugs like Walmart. Of course, the Bush regime wouldn't want a truly independent media.

About the only news source you can trust these days is DU. I won't be listening to NPR as long as it is a mouthpiece for Wallyworld propaganda. And that fact makes me sad.
