1. I have worked and studied at CU, and I teach at a Colorado
institution--the major community college in Colorado. This is political, and the media have taken this guy's quote out of context. It is chiefly about academic freedom.

My boss is involved in this fiasco in that his opinion is requested. I back him, respect him fully, and thank God I'm working for a person of his caliber.

If you have questions about this matter, please read Churchill's paper--it was never peer-reviewed, nor was it meant to be. It was never intended to be a public document. Churchill has a good following, a respectful following of students because he often challenges them with controversial questions and discussion.

If you have ever been lucky enough to have a teacher like that, you will know what I mean.

2. As a University of Colorado Alumni,
I am extremely appalled that CU is even considering firing Ward Churchill for his writings. I am also appalled that the university is yielding to the pressures of Governor Owens and state Republicans who are blowing this issue out of proportion and Churchill's comments out of context for their political purposes.

I will consider any disciplinary actions taken against Professor Churchill to be a focused assault on free speech and the lopsided enforcement of one side's "political correctness" to advance their political agenda. Consider that CU's football Coach, Gary Barnett, was not fired for his comments, which were just as offensive to some (including myself), as Professor Churchill's comments are to others.
