"A 10-year-old Crothersville girl may have become the latest victim of Jackson County’s methamphetamine trade.
Charles “Chuckie” James Hickman, 20, of 217 N. Armstrong St., Crothersville, made his initial appearance in Jackson Circuit Court Friday on murder and criminal confinement charges in the drowning death of Katlyn “Katie” Collman.

During further interviews, Hickman confessed to being involved in the events leading to Collman’s death, Kouns wrote in his affidavit. Hickman told police Collman had seen residents of an apartment in the Penn Villa Apartments, just west of the Dollar General Store, producing and/or using methamphetamine.
Hickman said the people spotted by Collman were afraid she might tell someone what she had seen and decided to scare her with the hope she would remain silent. The affidavit does not specify the link between those who apparently grabbed Collman and Hickman. Hickman said Collman was brought to his residence a short time later in a white Ford F-150 pickup, which had been borrowed from O’Sullivan. Hickman said a plan was then put together to take Collman to Cypress Lake in an effort to intimidate her, according to the affidavit."
