Bush to Take on "Twin Evils"
of SS and income tax, which are "un-American"...

Is "it's hard work filing a tax return" the new dumbed-down, bite-sized argument for a national sales tax?

Ever see Will Forte on SNL do his Bush impression?

"It's hard work. Doin' math. Readin' books. Stayin' late. Comin' in on weekends. It's hard."

6. ...and they pass on the higher tax right along to you and me.
Think about paying 15%-25% for everything. And I'm being generous.

Your "extra" income would be eaten up by the overall increase in the cost of commercial goods.

5. How is this sales-tax plan NOT going to (further) cripple the economy
Doesn't this provide a tremendous disincentive to spend, if you're able to pay even fewer taxes if you don't buy things? I mean, sure, there will always be necessities that you have to buy, and one could argue that people would have more to spend, and would be more willing to spend it, if they weren't paying income tax. As usual, though, this plan of Bush's ignores human nature, in this case, greed. Particularly when we are already in uncertain economic times, I thnk the overall instinct will be to sock away as much money as possible.

Unfortunatley, I seem to be seeing increasing numbers of those "Make it just another day" bumper stickers.
