Ralph Reed files to run for Ga. lt. gov.

ATLANTA -- Ralph Reed, former Christian Coalition director and President Bush's southeast regional chairman in 2004, filed paperwork Friday allowing him to make a bid for lieutenant governor next year.
Candidates cannot accept money for campaigns until they have registered a committee, which Reed did in his filing.

"Ralph is exploring a possible candidacy for lieutenant governor," said aide Sarah Few. "The papers filed today were precautionary to ensure he complies with state election law. When he has completed the exploratory process, he will announce his intentions."

From 1989 to 1997, Reed was executive director of the Christian Coalition, the organization formed by evangelist Pat Robertson. He was credited with being the major force behind the organization's fund-raising success. Reed, 43, headed the Georgia Republican Party from 2002 to 2003, a period in which Republicans elected their first governor since Reconstruction and took control of the state Senate. The party also now controls the state House of Representatives. The lieutenant governor's office likely will be vacant in 2006. The incumbent, Democrat Mark Taylor, is expected to challenge Gov. Sonny Perdue.

8. There are a couple of Enron stories awhile back.. boy has ethics

problems.... one item - he lobbied to get a contract for his political consulting firm from enron to sell PA on energy deregulation. Seems his pitch included promising to be able to deliver huge numbers of christian right voter support.... in short he commodified religious voters for profit - he didn't say this was an issue of interest to the religious right (because there was no basis upon which to do so) just that he could get pastors/pulpits to mobilize their folks... IF ralphie was paid something around $300,000 to do so.

Am guessing that there are many stories tied to ralphie along these lines - would love to see them come out - and see if that doesn't peel some believers away out of disgust (to see coldly how they are used politically for other peoples' profit on issues that have nothing to do with "family values" or anything related to their "moral" agenda.)

Have said for years that we need to watch Reed, get the goods on him, expose him to the light until he turns to dust or he will be in the WH some day and REALLY make life hell.

The guy is smooth, telegenic and gets the Kool Aide imbibing crowd all in a tizzy. And Governors are more likely to move to the WH than Senators in modern times. He is making his move, and in a state which has already been victimized by computer vote shenanigans.

WE NEED TO EXPOSE THIS GUY DOWN IN THE NATIONAL ARENA! Difficult with the media bing complicate in the corporate takeover of the US, but we ignore him at immense peril!

I've lived here for 4 years and I guess I should know, but the only campaigns that come to mind is Rot Barnes and damn Sonney Perdue!

Sonny Purdue is not liked by both Dems and Republicans in this state and I just can't see Ralphie taking Lt. Governor.

He talks a good game to the conservatives but the majority see right through him. He is working up to a presidential run...but that will never happen either. I used to believe that all conservatives were Religious and they are not.

If the voters of this state are that freakin' dumb (and so far I've tried very hard to just believe that we've been cheated out of fair elections by Diebold machines), then I cannot continue to live in a state that prides itself on its abject stupidity by electing these despicable morans!
