Heating/cooling company advertises on radio: "No liberals employed"
Edited on Sun Feb-06-05 01:01 PM by Newsjock
A couple days old, spotted on the blog of Brad Kava of the San Jose Mercury News:

No liberals need apply

So I was listening today to Clear Channel's conservative talk station, KNEW-AM (910) and heard an ad for McKinney heating and cooling that said: "No liberals employed."

I'm sure someone must think this is a joke, but it really says a lot for the times.

Talk radio has become less a forum for ideas, and more a place for name-calling, race and sex identity baiting, like those morons on World Wrestling. It's a place where the other side is demonized. (Would I hear the same ad on Clear Channel's liberal station, KQAK, saying no conservatives employed? You tell me. I've missed it so far. At least if the company did both, there would be a genuine sense of humor there.)

more

On edit: As I started researching this, I think I found a matching company, but Brad Kava misspelled it. Try McKinny Heating & Cooling.

2. And so it begins....

"Liberals" are the Jews of the new rethuglican 'Merica.

Open discrimination is just the first step.

5. Take 'em off the air
Since the Rethuglicans are trying to silence us, why don't we silence them? Isn't this a California station where this is going on? We're the majority there...let's put 'em out of business.

6. I don't live there, but I certainly agree with your sentiments.
Make sure you tell EVERY liberal you know NEVER to call on them. They should be out of business by June in California. Air conditioning is a must there in the summertime right?

9. In other words it is a non-union shop.
I bet McKinney Heating & Cooling has some real crocodiles technicians working for them. Working as a HVAC tech for a good number of years, it was my experience that most good Heating & Cooling businesses that were union, were honest and did good work. The worse shops were not union and would usually never back up their work, which was usually very shoddy. The same goes for most Electrical Companies I've worked for also.

Union shops has fixed prices and set rates. Where as a non-union shop goes with what-ever the traffic will bear within the limits of the laws.

10. I have noticed the "Jesus Fish"
on several billboards and service trucks here in Indianapolis. I guess a more subtle way to send a similar message. But really, who would want a non-believer fixing their toilet?

It's true.

13. I don't visit shops or businesses that advertise with religion.
It pisses me off to no end to see businesses that advertise with religion in any form (which probably speaks volumes about my own attitudes...) It always seemed to me that they were wearing their Christianity like some kind of "seal of approval" or some kind of mark of quality. I always figured that I didn't need to give them my money--that there were any number of places who weren't that tacky.

I have always tried to support progressive businesses and businesses of people knew, and I guess it now becomes a priority. If politics is coming to become a marketing tool, then so be it, Ill just shop liberal.

16. You should see all the small business in Oklahoma
carpet cleaners, plumbers, you name it - with scriptures and/or fish symbols CUSTOM PAINTED on their work vans and trucks. SO glad I live in California now where I have plenty of choices.

I don't really care if a small business wants only one kind of customer. Their call. But it IS really stupid of them to lose out on that other revenue. Religious-bias advertising is one thing; I guess if you are religious that should supercede political bias. There are tons of Christian liberals, after all. But to say "we don't hire dirty liberals" in an ad just reeks of bigotry and stupidity. GROSS. Almost makes me want to hire Christian plumbers - who'll appreciate my money no matter who *I* am - just for spite.

I am daily shaking my head at the way things are happening in this country.
