I have a proposal to help the with the average American's retirement
Me...

"Instead of taking part of our Social Security and invest it in stocks..... why not let people have an opportunity to invest in personal accounts with their income before taxes!"

Repugs answer,

"Oh... we have that... its called a 401k."

Me...

"So why do we need to change S.S.?"

Repugs answer.....

"Because some people aren't investing in 401ks. They don't seem to have enough money to set aside for retirement because they are barely making ends meet in the present, let alone worrying about what is going to happen 10,20 or 30 years down the road. So by allowing them to take part of their S.S. tax and invest they can join the rest of us and take ownership of their retirement."

Me....

"Why not just give them a raise so they don't have to struggle paycheck to paycheck? So, they DO have some extra money to invest."

1. Problem is, they are not REALLY concerned about folks' retirement.
They are worried that the pyramid scheme that is Wall Street/Corporate America (which is not really interested in producing goods/services) is about to fall apart. They have suckered the last willing investment $$ from American workers and now seek to force wage earners into propping up the wealthy through payroll taxes going directly into corporation coffers.

The alleged party of less government seeks use government to confiscate workers' money for the same private corporations which underpay and outsource labor. That activity lessens the monies going into the US Treasury via income taxes. It also lessens the payroll taxes going into the present SS system.

Just say NO to circular financial policies that cause the hording of monies instead of the creation of wealth. There is a difference between the two.

2. Well put havocmom....
I couldn't agree more. I have felt that from the beginning of this attempt to create private accounts. It is just taking money that corporations couldn't get their hands on and giving it to them to support their greedy little pockets.

Thanks for posting your opinion...

3. Always best to throw their own logic back at them

I would answer

"What you are proposing is another big government idea to FORCE people to invest their money. Why don't you trust the people to do what they want with their money? Why do they have to deposit it in government approved funds?"
