Cheney Says He "Doesn't See" Iraq Theocracy
So what are your thoughts, is he just trying to placate the American voters who don't cotton to nation-building when it results in Islamic theocracies....or does Halliburton have some back-door agreement with Sistani that will allow Cheney to profit?

===

WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney on Sunday brushed off concern that Islam will be the guiding principle of Iraq's new government, saying the country has the right to shape its own democracy without becoming "an Iraqi version of America."

"They will do it their way," Cheney said. "They will do it in accordance with their culture and their history and their beliefs and whatever role they decide they want to have for religion in their society. And that's as it should be."

The United Iraqi Alliance — a Shiite-led group whose leaders have ties to neighbor Iran — has taken a big lead in results being tallied for the Jan. 30 election.

Cheney said he does not think that means Iraq will have a theocracy like that in neighboring Iran, where individual rights are restricted.

4. Cheney doesn't see . . .
how anybody could think that he was anything but a simple man from Wyoming, despite having lived in Texas most of the time he was out of the public sector, and had to be shown where his Wyoming house was . . .

how he should release the names of anybody he met with in February 2001 while shaping the energy policy . . .

how anyone would think that he made a single cent from the government while arranging government contracts for his oil company, Halliburton prior to 1998 . . .

how anyone would think that he had anything to do with the no-bid contracts awarded to Halliburton during the current Iraqi war . . .

how anyone could ever doubt that Iraq was an imminent threat against the US . . .

how anyone could not believe that Iraq was littered with chemical, biological, and soon, nuclear weapons of mass destruction . . .

5. Cheney lives in an alternate universe, sees what he wants, sees what is
convenient, hears what he wants, illegally traded with states that sponsor terrorism, was involved with bribing foreign governments for state contracts, and generally makes me feel ill when I hear him speak. If this is the best America has to offer itself as leadership, then she must take what comes with it.
