You know what scares me?
The pukes have entered into every group, the black christians, the catholics, the written media, advertising, the unions, Hollywood, radio and tv. They have infiltrated the gay group. This is the base of the DNC.

They have. Quit laughing
Log Cabin Repukes. It's bizarre. Actually, it's not; it's all about money over social values.

Jackasses.

3. sorry
but the Log Cabin Republicans could hold their national convention in my garage, and I wouldn't have to move my car out.

To say they've infiltrated the gay movement is nonsense.

I don't take press releases from the Log Cabiners as the gospel truth. It is the LC itself that makes those claims, and I don't believe them.

Their membership is minuscule - they won't even TALK about how many members they have, that's how ashamed they are of their numbers.

16. the one in four gays voted for republican nonsense
is Log Cabin propaganda.

They probably have no more than 3,500 members nationwide - and likely a lot fewer than that. Their organization is over 25 years old, and that's how much progress they've made. Their press attention is disproportionate to their actual membership or impact - the media just like to cover them like the freak show they are.

It isn't my "self-made myth". In fact, I'm not sure what your feelings about me have to do with this discussion.

26. your evidence is less than overwhelming
Can you tell me how many members they have? I emailed them and they refused to tell me.

Now, since you seem to have inside information, can you share their membership numbers?

18. CNN has 23% of "Gay, Lesbian or Bisexual" voting for Bush.
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/US/P/00/epolls.0.html

I guess they don't have to be members of the Log Cabin crew to vote for Bush.

African Americans? 11%

Oh well.

5. the existence of some gay republicans
doesn't mean they've "Infiltrated" the gay movement. The Log Cabins have been around a long time, and their numbers are negligible.

15. the last reference I found
said their California chapter - presumably the nation's largest - had 400 members. That extrapolates to a few thousand members nationwide.

They've been around since the late 70s. I don't find their rate of growth particularly alarming.

2. How have they infiltrated gays, other than Log Cabin
Repugs who I think voted against *? But I agree, very scary but not insurmountable, hopefully. Don't forget, election fraud (Faye-okay?) and how many people voted for 'our side'!

The pukes have entered every single Dem. group. Just wonder how people are going to vote when their food stamps, housing etc. are cut.

Edited on Sun Feb-06-05 10:51 PM by ultraist
The majority are Democrats. (This is in response to your 'food stamps, housing, etc).

As far as the Republicans digging into our base, yes, that's very true. More blacks voted Republican than ever, 11% of gays voted Republican and Bush also made gains with the Hispanic population. This is a real problem for Democrats. We cannot win without minorities.

Dean talked some about this during one of the DNC Chair candidate panels and recognizes that Democrats need to do more to keep from losing our minority base. One of his suggestions was to ensure the minorities held some top positions. His remark, was something like, 'all talk and no action is causing us to lose on this front that has been and SHOULD STILL BE a core Democrat value.' (I'm paraphrasing).

I recently read an article about how the Republicans have strategized as to how to reach out to minorities. They began this before this campaign and made some progress. Bush visited Black churches and wooed the Hispanic community. They also made sure to appoint some minorities to high ranking positions (condi and gonzalez).

The Republicans ARE making inroads here and the Democrats need to put a stop to it.

25. I think gobsmacked applies here.
Or perhaps I should be appalled it's CNN? I'm bristling, but tomorrow is another day to get p.o.ed again. And it's not just gay votes that defy the imagination, it is every freakin' person who can vote but doesn't. Oh, wait, I did that the first few cycles of my 'voting' life. Having said that, I am now ANGRY!

27. Yes
your wife already quoted that above, but it's sweet you come to her aid.

I don't believe the stat, because I simply don't believe in the reliability of on-the-street exit polling about people's sexuality.

But let's say it's true for arguments' sake. That means Gays are more Democratic than any income group, than Union members, than any ethnic group except African-Americans. More Democratic than women, than hispanics, than post-graduates, than Jews, than Christians, than just about any group you can think of.

And I stand by my assertion that the Log Cabin Republicans are a negligible number of people.

6. Now that the RW controls the government, and the war....and has
dumbed down the public....with mindless promises and sick patriotism....
and an "every man for themselves" self-righteous culture....

It's actually stupidity, fear, anger, and hopelessness that's taking over the rest of the country as much as any political affiliation.

Even with a democratic win in 2008, this overwhelming force of stupidity will be extremely hard to reverse. Worse of all...you see the problem in our children. They will be inheriting a broken America....almost certainly doomed for bankruptcy.

12. It's a correct choice of words
Google "Steve Kangas" and read some of his essays.

It's not rocket science with the advent of the internet, but people still will act like it's a big conspiracy. And you know what? It is.
