which is .2 percent lower than earlier...

nationally now 5.2 percent. HOWEVER, as was pointed out, it's
not that a bunch of new jobs were created, it's just that many
long term unemployed have simply quit looking, so the way they
gather the information (people filing for unemployment) it looks
like the unemployment numbers are falling when, in fact, they haven't
changed.

9. The U3 Unemployment Rate Is In The 5% Range, However U6

Is still "officially" in the 9% range.

U6 is a better measure of "true" unemployment because it includes those no longer looking for work (discouraged workers) and those working part time when full time is wanted.

I have seen some unofficial estimates for true unemployment at between 12% and 18%. This is based on the labor participation rate trending down over the last four years.

However, the real story is that over the last four years, total employment in the US is up by only 100,000 jobs. That is virtually a flat line!

Bush can claim 25,000 net new jobs per year over four years. Bill Clinton had 3,000,000 net new jobs for each year he was in office.

I've taken on a low skill job in the meantime. I work with Mexicans. Looking for a nite gig to just hold on to what I've got (mortgage/car/college loans). Laboratory jobs pay $1 more than I make now. Government jobs are few and far between.
