Superbowl, D of I, and Steve Largent???
Did anyone else see the former players reading the Declaration of Independence before the Superbowl yesterday?

Each of the players and coaches were identified by name and their affiliation with a charity.

Was it just me, or did anyone else notice that the affiliation of former Seatlle Seahawk and OK Repig Congressman Steve Largent wasn't a charity but a fundie politcal advocacy group, none other than James Dobson's "Focus on the Family"??

1. Say it ain't so. I admired Largent as a player - it's all crashing down.

...he is very extreme in his views. All you really need to know is his alliance with James Dobson.

2. That's right
Focus on the Family associated with a group of charities. Just one more atrocity committed during Fox's coverage.

You're definitely not the only one to see that.

3. Largent's a major league rightie
Ironic that he would read from the Declaration while promoting a religious monarchy.

5. I thought it was former/current players who are activists/politicians
Jack Kemp's group is not a charity, is it?

And Darrel Green would put them all to shame with his religious convictions.

7. I missed Kemp charity affiliation
and I have no problem with their individual religious beliefs.

With the Largent exception, each of the players were associated with charities like Cancer research groups, kids organizations, etc.. The Largent affiliation was innappropriate and confiems that the Right has no shame.

12. Thank god
I missed most of this. But jeepers I tuned in just in time to see what I thought was old serial films of Stalin’s May day parades. I mean I understand supporting our troops but after seeing the NFLs 10000 tribute it starts to feel a little insincere. How about a little truth about the Iraq war once in a while. Don’t the troops deserve that too?

I think every other member of the USA society deserve a little tribute too. As far as I can tell in America you can show support to *, teachers, god and troops. Everyone else seems to be superfluous. Now that scares me.
