The war on poverty has become the war on poor
I'm so depressed today about the budget proposal. What the hell happened to this country?

People are going to be literally homeless and dying in the streets just so the richest 1% can have their tax cuts.

Here we are fighting about abortion, gays and religion while they're running off with all of the money, probably laughing hysterically about what chumps the majority of Americans are.

All I can think about is Rage Against the Machine: "WAKE UP! WAKE UP!"

2. It's a war on work and opportunity too.
People who work for a living have to work harder and for less so that people who employee them have to worry less about the next big dividends check or the value of their stock options.

6. Now, now... You have to remember that more money for them means...
... more money will be in our checks too. I mean nobody could be so much of a GOD DAMN GREEDY BASTARD that they would accept a HUGE tax cut and then not pass on some of the money to their employees.

Right?

3. The Bushbots trust Bush and his gang because...
...everyone they respect says this is good for the country. This includes Republican politicians, right-wing talk radio hosts, preachers, priests, Fox News. They just blindly follow the "leaders". Of course all of the above will come out just fine when the economy crashes, leaving the Bushbots to rot.

5. Remember, prosperity is only for the righteous - the poor are poor because

God is punishing them - so say the Christian Reconstructionists... So it all fits in, and actually makes sense to the Dominionist thugs.

9. Very good point!
Do you have some really good links about Christian Reconstructionist views on poverty? I wanted to pass some info on to a few people.

BTW, welcome to DU. :hi:

10. TheocracyWatch.org and YuricaReport.com are both chock-full
of info. Both, to my knowledge, are well vetted, and are not conspiracy theory sites - someone please correct me if either does not rely on facts.

These are especially great for a start:

And thanks, I'm glad to have found DU. Forums like this one may prove to be a contemporary form of the Underground Railroad - this time for ideas & information.

4. But...but...you just haven't given the trickle down theory enough time!
It takes a long time...a really really really long long long time to trickle down. That's why it's called a trickle.

But eventually we'll all be able to rely on the generosity and handouts of our great masters "the rich". And as long as we do what they tell us to do then we'll all be happy with our manditory 80 hour work week.

It helps families too. You'll be able to work all day right there along side your children. Yup, all together making Ford trucks or better yet, "Jeb Bush for President" pins.

And when christmas comes you get a big bonus (based on your volume, divided by the number of sick days, minus your annual insurance cost, and of course the usual "christmas related expenditure" processing fees).

You just wait. It'll be glorious, you'll see.

Chin up! And BTW, try thinking of a Pat Boone tune, it's better for your health.

7. Bush=Hitler?????
It's the same thing that Hitler and the Nazis did to the undesirables in Germany, the only difference is that at least the
Nazis tried to hide it at first.

8. I've been waiting for the door to be kicked in
but, that would be too easy and no fun. Now, cutting off every source of income and forcing me into the street would make my demise much more painful and slower.
It would also be more visible, but I have the suspicion that that has been covered as well.
Being poor sucks, being poor in amerika is a nightmare.
