Kerry and Wal Mart (and houses...)
No...it's not what you think...

Yesterday, I posted a blatently anti John Kerry diatribe concerning his alleged ownership of Wal Mart stock. Needless to say, I was not happy to find out he owned stock in a company which I loathe. I am a union member and I absolutely deplore Wal Mart's corporate policy toward it's workers, unions, and it's business practices.

In any event...a few here were quite upset about my opinion. They correctly pointed out that it was Kerry's wife who actually "owned" the stock. Without engaging in a debate about community property, and putting assets in a spouses name, in the interest of fairness, I would like to offer an apology to the Kerry supporters here. I should have not been so quick on the trigger. I wasn't being fair. John Kerry doesn't "own" the stock, his wife does. Kerry does, however, own stock in my employer, which I appreciate. :-)

In another post I asked how many houses Kerry owned. Of course this was immediately taken as some type of negative post about Kerry. It wasn't. I was remiss in not initially stating my reason for the question. Earlier yesterday, I had been engaged in a conversation with a co worker about the Dem candidates, and he stated that "Kerry owned somthing like 10 houses..." I told him I doubted that, but would check it out. Stupid me, I figured that the easiest way to get the info was to ask here. Frankly I couldn't care less how many houses Kerry owns. I own more than one myself. It's not a big deal. I work with a lot of conservative, republican people who love to gig me because they know I'm a Democrat, and I won't take any shit from them.

I have watched the Dean bashing that goes on here on a regular basis. It has gone on for months. There are a number of posts here today. As a Dean supporter it pisses me off. There are a couple of Kerry people that are notorius for their attacks on Dean. Folks, if you are going to attack the candidate I support, then you have to expect responses.

In this case I was not being fair. Again, to the Kerry supporters that I offended...sorry.

2. No community property in Mass... Curse10 clarified that
All ad hominem bashing against candidates with internet rumors rather than concrete issues is unacceptable.

POLICY talks are precious and few.

IF he earned those homes, or his wife inherited tham and paid the taxes on the inheritance..there is NO WRONG doing and it should NOT be an issue.

I am undecided. I don't like cheap shots against Dean/ Kerry/ Clark or any of the candidates.

His wife obviously has a spending problem look at all the crap she owns. If he cannot control her how is he going to run the United States? If I were him I would put my pants on and say "woman you are not going to buy one more Nike, Intel, Motorola, IBM, Microsoft, Wal-Mart etc stock, so help me or I will take all that money away! Oh wait, that’s all your money, I'm sorry baby! Hey can I borrow a 10 spot for some gas?"

btw I am just being sarcastic.

Thanks for the link pretty detailed financial stuff there, I just wish I had a penny for every dollar they have.

4. You're going a bit overboard with these anti-Kerry threads...

...and it's beginning to look immature...at best.

- All the anti-dem candidate threads look just plain silly...considering that most of them will drop out over time.

- Not to mention that you could cover most of these subjects in ONE thread.

I too agree that we shouldn't be bashing the candidates, but praising the ones we favor and saying nothing about the ones we aren't so thrilled with. The only time something should be put up for scrutiny is if there is a real problem about a candidate that has surfaced and that we, the electorate, should know about.
