What is Jeff Gannon's real name?

Just read on MediaFarts that he doesn't use his real name. Anyone know who he is?

Gannon, who uses a pseudonym -- he declines to reveal his real name -- sees a "double standard" in criticism from such liberal groups as Media Matters. "I am admittedly a conservative journalist, and that point of view is not represented in the briefing room at all," says Gannon, who also hosts an online radio show for the Rightalk network. Other White House reporters "come from a decidedly liberal perspective, certainly left of center. . . . Call me partisan, fine, but don't let my colleagues off the hook. They're partisan too, but they don't admit it."

There was a whopping inaccuracy in Gannon's question when he told Bush that "Harry Reid was talking about soup lines." Jim Manley, a spokesman for the Senate minority leader, calls that "outrageous" and a "lie." Gannon concedes he picked up the characterization of Reid's views from a Rush Limbaugh monologue and that Reid never referred to soup lines, but he is unapologetic about using the phrase.

Talon and GOPUSA are headed by Bobby Eberle, a Texas Republican activist, who says: "We make no bones about it: It's a partisan site." Eberle says he hired Gannon two years ago, when he was a "writer of conservative commentary," as his only Washington reporter, and that Talon deals in "facts," not editorializing.

Gannon, who was turned down for a congressional press pass, says he's been stalked and threatened by some "nuts" on the left. "I'm a pioneer," he says. "Guys on the front lines, they get shot at, and hey, I'm willing to take it."

13. I believe it is fundamentally our right to know his true identity

Gannon gets daily press passes to WH briefings. Are we to believe that the SS does not know his true identity? Since we know that there are rigorous background checks done on anyone with access to the WH, and particularly those with access to the pResident, I believe that it is safe to assume that they know who he is.

If this man insist on concealing his identity, particularly with such access to the pResident, then he should be compelled to write his apparent propaganda under 'anonymous'. If the WH insist on allowing this 'anonymous journalist' into briefings, they should be compelled to reveal his identity.

This matter is really no joke. I doubt the reason for concealing his identity is as innocent as his academic achievements (or failures) or any simple criminal violations. There is something incredibly wrong with this happening, and we should demand answers.

It's time the "libruls" really tooks the wingnuts at their word and set up our own media. Recreate the free presses and networks of the 60's and 70's...bypass these assholes altogether. I know Air America is a step in the right direction, but we need to set up the elaborate system the Right wing has...including daily newspaper (like the Moonie Times), Publishing house and new agencies. The be damned about truth or fact, all that matters is spin.

Methinks the right wing would blow ventricals (of which I'd pay a premium to see) if they found a "librul" media-type who refused to identify himself, be used for set-up questions at press conferences and then hide in the cloak of "journalism" with zero credentials or credibility. In medicine, this guy would be sued for malpractice. In the GOOP, he's got a real future.

I saw the Washington Post "reporter"...I had to double check and make sure he wasn't employed by the Washington Moonie Times. This guy sounded like a PR agent, not a "journalist". And, of course there's good old Carl Cameron (isn't he the still there? I avoid Faux) and a cadre of right wing "legitimate" papers.

This White House is a well-oiled propaganda machine and has created such a bubble now that asshole can pretend to have impromptu press conferences that are all orchestrated with questions by stooges.
